Earth Day
22ND April is observed as the Earth Day all over the world .Gulmohur High School also celebrated Earth Day with a number of activities lined up,in keeping with the vision and mission of the school to make students responsible citizens.The students and faculty took an oath to conserve the natural resources of the Earth. This was followed by a Nukkad Natak that depicted the preservation of environment, presented by the students.Quiz, Slogan writing, Poster making /cloth bags and planting of saplings were some of the other activities that took place .All the students participated in some event or the other.

ECO FEST organized by Little Flower School
With pride and joy we announce the achievement of Gulmohur High School in the ECO FEST organized by Little Flower School, Telco, on 13th April, 2013(Saturday). Amongst the various categories Gulmohur High School excelled in Nukad Natak, PowerPoint Presentation, Quiz and Treasure Hunt. Gulmohur School also bagged the overall championship trophy.

Annual Elocution Contest
Gulmohur High School organized its Annual English Elocution Contest on 30th August, 2012 in the school premises.
The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mrs. Anju Telang. The judges for the English Elocution were: Mrs. Ashu Tiwary, Principal , Motilal Nehru Public School, Mrs. Amy Billimoria , Principal, Tarapore School, Agrico and Dr. Fr. Lobo, Professor, Loyola College of B.Ed Education.
The participants were from classes 6 to 12. A total of 45 students participated in the event. They displayed a high degree of their oratory skills that mesmerized the audience along with the other dignitaries present. The poise, the confidence and the diction of the participants reflected in their speeches was highly appreciable. The Plus Two students came up with the novel concept of Reflections where they revived the golden memories of their school days.

Science Exhibition 2012
Gulmohur High School organized the Science Exhibition on 27th and 28th July, 20912. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Dr. Meeta Tarafdar, Scientist from NML, Jamshedpur who inaugurated the exhibition.
The atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm when students put up their models under the guidance of the teachers. The students showed their innovation and competitive zeal through their models. The students were aptly seen to take the helm and display their flair through their exhibits.
The exhibition was divided into two days : class 3 to 5 on 27th July and class 6 to 12 on 28th July.
The judges for the occasion were Mr.Ravi and Mr. Ashok Tripathy from Tata Cummins Ltd.
The event was not only resourceful for the students but also for the invitees who were able to explore the untrodden logical corners. The students said that such exhibitions really help them to compete against their respective levels of rationality and boosts up their morale.

Effort Recognition Ceremony
On 27th of April, Gulmohur High School organized The Effort Recognition Ceremony in its premises. The programme commenced at 6:00 pm. Mr. Sanjay Verma(HR Tata Motors), Mrs. Deepa Verma, Mr. Pramod Kumar (Vice Chairman, GHS) graced the occasion. There were 280 students who were felicitated on the occasion for their achievements in different fields. Some teachers who have completed 25 years of their service along with some of the support staff members were also felicitated on the occasion. Mr. Verma (Chief Guest) inaugurated the event by planting the sapling with Mrs. Sunita Sinha (Principal, GHS). There was a huge participation from teachers, parents and members of the press.

Unified Basketball Match
A Unified Basket Ball match was played between SCHOOL OF HOPE & GULMOHUR HIGH SCHOOL on 20.4.2012. This match was played to encourage the spirit of the children and develop interactive skills and inter-personal skills in the children. The students of SCHOOL OF HOPE really were found to have enjoyed the match. The match was inaugurated by Mrs. Sunita Sinha (Principal, Gulmohur High School) and it was supervised by Mr. Ekbal Singh (Sports Teacher, G.H.S) The match was played in the premises of GULMOHUR HIGH SCHOOL from 8:00am to 9:30am.

International School Award
International School Award heralded a variety of activities on different themes like Dollcypedia-Ties of Friendship (Dolls), Tribal Harmony (Study of Tribes), Reservoir of Utility (Utensils), Fibre of Life (Textile Industry), Path Finders (Famous Scientists), Horizon (SAARC Countries), Razz-Ma-Tazz (Film Making), Pensive Moments (Poets & Poems) and Win-Win (Traditional Indian Games). These activities gave immense global exposure to the students, right from Nursery to Std. XII. Nearly 2100 students, 60 teachers and ISA Coordinators worked all the year round on the various themes which was subtly integrated into their existing curriculum under the creative leadership of the Principal Mrs. Sunita Sinha and Primary Incharge Mrs. Priti Sinha. The students, teachers and parents learned about the culture of various countries like India, Japan, Africa, Russia, China, USA, Africa, United Kingdom, France, SAARC Countries etc. in a fun-filled manner. Various subjects like English, Math, Science, History, Geography, Hindi, Social Studies, Art & Craft, Music, PT, Value Education, General Knowledge and Computer Science got a new dimension though ISA activities. ISA opened the doors of the world by sharing and exchanging good practices with friends from far away.GHS utilized various technologies like video conferencing, e-mails, Power Point presentations, digital worksheets etc. which exposed and enriched our knowledge of technology and the world. The yearlong activities & events were then documented into a dossier and submitted to British Council in February 2012. The hard work of entire Gulmohur family produced fantastic results. Gulmohur High School has been successfully accredited with the British Council International School Award for the period 2012-15. GHS successfully met all the 10 Essential as well as Desirable Criteria to win the Award.The strengths recognized by British Council are:
- Subject integration is very well documented.
- This dossier can serve as role model for examples of subject integration.
- Innovative ideas of activities with a special mention on Dollcypedia.

International Week 2011
Gulmohur High School organized its International Week from 29th Nov to 2nd December ,2011 . The inauguration was done by Mr.S.K.Dhawan, General Manager (Technical), Tata Motors Ltd., Jamshedpur on 29.11.11. The Chief Guest on the concluding day will be Mr.Y.Iwase, Director, Technology and International Business Development, Telcon, Jamshedpur.
There were different themes for different classes like:
Classes 3 and 4 - Reservoirs of Utility (Utensils of India, UK and China)
Classes 5 and 6 - Path Finders (Scientists of USA , France and India)
Classes 7 and 8 - Fabric of Life (Textile)
Class 9 - Horizon (SAARC Countries)
Classes 5 to 8 - Pensive moments (Poets) and WIN – WIN (Traditional Games )
On all four days students will mesmerize the audience by presenting colourful cultural programme related to India and other countries. The various activities include songs, dances , elocutions, fashion shows, food festival, exhibitions and Youth Parliament. The show will introduce the students to have a peep into the diverse cultures of the various countries across the globe

Scouts and Guides Rastrapati Awards 2010
Three students of our school Satbir Kaur, Aniket Dubey and Shivam of std. XI represented Bihar and Jharkhand state to receive the Scouts and Guides Rastrapati Award from the President of India Smt. Pratibha Patil at the Rastrapati Bhawan on 23rd August, 2011.
Six scouts and four guides have received this award.The name of the students are Harshdeep Singh, Rohit Kumar Dubey, Aniket Dubey, Shivam, Abhishek Kumar, Saurav Kumar Singh, Satbir Kaur, Dipti Bassi, Nidhi Kumari and Anupama.

Gulotsav 2011
Gulotsav is an annual school event organized every year by the students of Std. XII. The event this year was organized on 26th and 27th of August, 2011. Many students of Gulmohur School got an opportunity to portray their hidden talent. Various events like dancing, singing, music with kitchen Instrument, talent show, mask making, model making, techno quiz, etc. were showcased.

Gulmohur High School Hosted the ASISC Regional Quiz on 30th July, 2011. Winners of the Zonal Quiz from Jamshedpur, Ranchi, Patna, Bhagalpur and Deoghar participated. The quiz was conducted in two categories :

The participating schools for Junior category were Little Flower School, Jamshedpur ; Don Bosco Academy, Patna; St. Thomas School, Ranchi; St. Francis, Deoghar; St. Joseph School, Bhagalpur .

May Day Celebration
May Day was celebrated on 2nd May 2011 during assembly. The Support Staff was felicitated. They put up a play with a theme that brought out their acting skills. It was highly appreciated by teachers and students. The ladies of the high school support staff presented a tribal dance, with full enthusiasm and energy. A small vote of thanks in English was presented by Mr. Mahadeb Ghosh and Mr. Bharat Singh from the high school and primary section respectively. The entire celebration was organized by the council members of the school.

Gulmohur High School organized its Annual Prize Nite on 29th April, 2011.The Chief Guest for the evening was Mr. P. K. Chobe, Plant Head , Tata Motors Ltd., Jamshedpur and Guest of Honour was Mrs. L. Chobe. Members of managing Committee were also present. The theme this year was ‘Be the Change’. A short cultural program was presented by the students which was highly appreciated. Faculty members who completed 25 years or more of service were felicitated. Mr. N. P. V. Nair, Mr. C. Subramanium, Mr. M. Bhushan Rao, Ms. Sarjeet Kaur, Mrs. Laxmi Chakraborty, Mrs. Rita Barua, Mr. I . Ramachandra Rao, Mrs. Jaswinder Kaur, Mr. K. Unni Krishnan and Mr. Gopi Sen. Amongst the support staff – Mr. Bir Bahadur, Mr. Prem Prasad, Mrs. Savitri, Mrs. Meena Nag, Mr. Shib Charan Mukhi and Mrs. Sharda Kar were also felicitated for completing 25 years of service in school. 12 students who thought the resource children of junior classes were also felicitated for their commendable efforts. The Principal also gave a presentation on the achievements of the past year. Mrs. Jaswinder Kaur - Hindi teacher and Mrs. Vijaya-Primary Teacher, who taught the support staff to read and write were also felicitated. Rank holders, high achievers and courteous and helpful students were felicitated. The program ended with a note of good wishes and congratulations to all the prize winners.

Excellence Award
The TATA QUALITY MANAGEMENT SERVICES (TQMS) conducted its awards ceremony on 25th of Feb. 2011. The Chief guest for the occasion was the Ex – President of India honorable Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. Gulmohur High School has crossed the 400+ band and was the proud recipient of three awards. The first award was for EDUCATIONAL QUALITY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT (EQUIP) and the second award was for the BEST PRACTICE AWARD. This award was for the EFFECTIVE USE OF MIND MAPPING TECHNIQUE RESULTING IN IMPROVED LEARNING.

Graduation Nite 2011
The Graduation Nite 2011 for class X students was held on 4th Feb, 2011. The theme was 'Seven Habits of Highly Effective People'. Ms. Lalita Sareen - Initiative Director and Ex- Principal , Jamshedpur Public School was the Chief Guest for the occasion.
Deserving students received awards in different categories. The most awaited award for the evening was the Tata Cummins – Young Achiever Award which includes a rotating Trophy and a cash award of Rs. 10000/-. This year the recipients of the award were Nidhi Singh among the girls and Junaid Gouhar among the boys as they secured the highest aggregate in Pre ICSE. The award for most talented girl was received by Akansha Prasad and Y. Rahul Kaushik for the most talented boy. The award for the dedicated leader was received by Anupama.
The Principal showed a PPT and highlighting the importance of love and compassion towards Parents and Grandparents. The Chief Guest gave a encouraging speech to the students.

UKIERI Visit
Students at Gulmohur had a whale of a time, thanks to teachers all the way from Wales, UK. A five member team from Wales visited our school on 12th Jan. Welsh teachers Joanna Broad and Brady Edwards from Gilwern Primary school, Ashleigh Manfield from Malpas Court, Rhian Lewis from Ysgol Gartholing and Lisa Tandy from Maes Yr Haul were on a four day trip.
The Welsh teachers took classes to demonstrate teaching techniques. They taught creative writing and promoted reading through story telling. In return the children presented a programme on Sankranti where our support staff also participated. Our guests took part enthusiastically and enjoyed themselves.
